Mohs HistotechnicianAt Skin and Aesthetics Center, our Mohs Histotechnicians play a key role in delivering high-quality skin cancer care to our patients at our Burnsville, MN practice location. As part of a comprehensive healthcare management services organization, this position combines precise frozen section laboratory work with close collaboration with our Mohs surgeon, ensuring accurate, timely slides that allow patients to complete their surgery in a single visit.The ideal candidate is meticulous, calm under time pressure, and takes pride in slide quality. You'll work directly with our Mohs surgeon to process tissue, cut and stain frozen sections, and keep the in-office lab running to CLIA and safety standards throughout the surgical day.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of a histotechnology training program or equivalent hands-on frozen section experienceMinimum of one year of experience cutting frozen sections on a cryostatCurrent BLS certificationPreferred Qualifications:HT or HTL (ASCP) certification strongly preferredPrevious experience in a Mohs surgery laboratory strongly preferredExperience with H&E and immunohistochemical staining of frozen sectionsWorking knowledge of CLIA laboratory requirements, quality control, and documentationProficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems; EMA/ModMed experience a plusStrong interest in dermatologic surgery and skin cancer careResponsibilities:Receive, orient, ink, and map Mohs tissue specimens from the surgeon, maintaining accurate correlation between the specimen, the map, and the slideEmbed and freeze tissue, cut high-quality frozen sections on the cryostat, and mount and stain slides using H&E and special stains as orderedDeliver slides to the Mohs surgeon promptly and re-cut or re-stain as needed to support accurate margin evaluationMaintain, clean, and troubleshoot the cryostat, stainers, and other lab equipment, including daily temperature and maintenance logsPrepare, label, and store reagents and stains; monitor inventory and reorder lab supplies before they run outPerform and document daily quality control, proficiency testing, and equipment checks in compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and practice policyMaintain accurate specimen logs, slide records, and laboratory documentation in the EHR and lab recordsHandle, dispose of, and document hazardous chemicals and biohazard waste according to safety regulationsSupport the surgical team with room turnover, specimen transport, and patient flow on Mohs days as neededDeliver a concierge-level patient experience from start to finishOther duties as assigned to support clinical operations and consistent with the responsibilities of the role.Travel Requirements:Reliable transportation required; occasional travel to other practice locations may be requested to support surgical coverageLocations Required : Burnsville, MNKey Skills:Proficient in cryostat operation and frozen section technique for Mohs surgerySkilled in tissue embedding, orientation, mapping, and H&E stainingStrong knowledge of CLIA requirements, laboratory quality control, and safety standardsAbility to work quickly and accurately under time pressure during surgical daysExcellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skillsExperience with EHR systems and laboratory documentation#SNA2026 #MA2026 #MR2026TEST
