Job description

Apr 01, 2025 - Apollo GraphQL is hiring a remote Sr. Staff Product Manager - Federation Core. Salary: competitive, market-informed compensation. Location: USA, Canada.

Are you an experienced product manager excited to work with developer tools that help the biggest companies around the world scale in production with GraphQL? As a Product Manager at Apollo, you’ll provide platform engineers with the tools, capabilities, and controls they need to deploy, operate, and scale Apollo’s Federated GraphQL runtime layer.

In this position, we’re seeking an accomplished Product Manager with a highly technical acumen and understanding of API’s, query languages, and algorithms. As a specialized Product Manager working on the foundational library for API federation and query planning, you’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design to provide platform engineers with the tools, capabilities, and controls they need to integrate their API ecosystem and efficiently and reliably query it.

So join us and help shape the future of GraphOS!

What You'll Do
  1. Define and drive Apollo’s vision for how APIs are federated and queried.
  2. Own and evolve Apollo’s ability to provide API query planning insights across the development lifecycle, from a developer’s IDE to production, through common federation tooling.
  3. Build and evangelize a roadmap across internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Develop and validate new GraphOS capabilities directly with industry-leading customers, such as Paypal, Wayfair, Peloton, The New York Times, and many others.
What You Bring
  1. You have successfully led product development lifecycles and technical product management, ideally with developer platforms and infrastructure or similar B2B products.
  2. You have deep experience with APIs and algorithms.
  3. You understand how to work back from the customer’s perspective to identify value and develop a clear product vision.
  4. You are adept at reasoning technical tradeoffs in relation to the product vision you’ve built.
  5. You like learning and proactively keeping up with new developer trends by reading books, watching videos, taking classes, or doing something similar.
  6. You possess a strong entrepreneurial drive and leadership skills.
  7. You’re excited about GraphQL and modern developer tooling and are interested in helping push the industry forward.
Nice to Have
  1. Degree in Computer Science or related field
  2. 8+ years of experience in Product Management within the developer tooling space
  3. Direct experience with GraphQL, API middleware, or scaled API platforms.
