Job description

Jun 27, 2025 - UpCodes is hiring a remote Product Designer. Location: Northern America, South America.

ABOUT US

Trusted by 900,000 monthly active users, UpCodes (YC S17) is a comprehensive compliance and product research platform that accelerates design to construction in the AEC space. The construction industry suffers from unnecessary costs and complexity; every year billions of dollars are wasted on rework. We’re committed to delivering easy-to-use tools that help designers and builders spend less time finding the right compliance and product resources and more time doing what they love — designing and building. We make a real-world tangible impact on the lives of our users and their work of constructing our homes, schools, hospitals, and offices.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned product designer who’s looking to take on significant strategic responsibilities alongside day-to-day design tasks. Usability and overall design quality are two of the things that help set UpCodes apart from competitors, and you’ll be a key part of maintaining and extending our advantage.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Product Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product and design culture. You’ll partner with product managers and engineers to own end-to-end design across core experiences like our AI Copilot and Products Library.

  • Own UX/UI design across key features from exploration to launch, focusing on clarity, usability, accessibility, and polish.

  • Participate in regular user research relying on qualitative and quantitative methods to validate ideas, measure success, and uncover new user pain points.

  • Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering. You’ll get a chance to provide feedback and help define requirements during planning, gather feedback and iterate together during design explorations, and provide input and guidance during implementation.

  • Collaborate with Marketing on high-priority initiatives and provide design input to ensure visual alignment across the website, brand, and product.

  • Take ownership of projects and product areas and help drive them forward independently, while staying collaborative and aligned with the broader team.

  • Help continue to evolve our design practice by contributing to our design system, introducing new conceptual frameworks, and improving processes.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Experienced Designer: At least 5 years of experience designing responsive web applications.

  • B2B SaaS Familiarity: Experience working on B2B SaaS products.

  • Usability-First Perspective: Has a strong intuition for usability and accessibility — you can show how that comes through in your past work.

  • Confident Researcher: Confident running user research and interviews, drawing on qualitative and quantitative data, and helping translate those into actionable insights for the rest of the team.

  • Self-Starter: Self-motivated with good time management. Can work independently and as part of a team within a structured but flexible, fast-paced development process.

  • Design-Curious: Passion for the craft and a curiosity about emerging perspectives, techniques, and tools.

  • Action-Oriented: Has a bias towards action and iteration — you ship, learn, and refine quickly.

  • Design System Contributor: Has worked with design systems (bonus if you’ve helped build or scale one!).

  • Comfortable with Complexity: Experience designing complex or information-dense tools in specialized fields.
