Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a skilled RN for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. You will provide professional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in a high acuity, fast-paced PACU setting with a strong emphasis on safety and patient-family communication.

Minimum one year of PACU/ER/ICU experience is required, with BSN soon after hire. ACLS/BLS are required, and moderate shifts are available to ensure continuous patient care across all units.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required for new hires after 2012.
• Previous PACU, ER, or ICU experience required.
• PALS within one year of hire.
• Basic knowledge of commonly used computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in the PACU and acute care settings.
• Support recovery of patients from anesthesia across ages and surgeries.
• Collaborate with families and interprofessional team to ensure safe, effective care.
• Participate in rotating shifts and adapt to fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice.

Staffing three Post Anesthesia Care Units located at the main Sarasota campus. PACU is a high acuity, fast paced department recovering over 100 surgeries a day. We are looking for nurses with critical care experience, great communication skills, and the ability to make independent decisions while caring for patients who are recovering from anesthesia. We recovery patients of all ages, surgeries ranging from ambulatory surgery to critically ill patients.

Must have one year experience in in-patient PACU, ER, or ICU.

Shifts

Shifts are: 11a-23:30p, FT/ 3 12's

Salary Details

Hourly rate is determined by years of worked experience as an RN, education level, and internal equity within organization. Minimum rate starting at $34.10, max of salary range is $52.90. In addition to hourly rate, if candidate holds an approved certification position qualifies for certification pay of $1.50.

Required Qualifications

• Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
• Require previous PACU, ER, or ICU experience.
• Require Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one (1) year of hire.
• Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
