Job description

Jun 16, 2025 - Nightdive Studios, Inc. is hiring a remote Environment Artist. Location: USA.

We are in the process of staffing up our development team with outstanding talent to tackle a brand new sci-fi remake project using Unreal Engine 5. This is a contract position, with the potential for full-time employment based on project needs and performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is tired of being a cog in a bigger machine, but would rather work closely with a small team where they can have a meaningful impact on the final game.

With the goal of capturing and preserving the essence of the games that we all grew up with, we welcome applicants with unique skillsets and backgrounds. If you are passionate about making a meaningful contribution to some of the most significant and beloved games in the industry, we’d love to hear from you!

REPORT STRUCTURE

  • This role reports directly to the Art Lead and Producer while working closely with the Project Lead and other Environment Artists.
  • This role is responsible for liaising with asset artists of all rankings, concept artists, and level designers to fulfill the shared vision of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating hard surface environment art and props in Blender, based on concept art.
  • Implementing and presenting finished art assets in the Unreal 5 Editor.
  • Working closely with the project lead, environment artists, and concept artists to refine the overall vision and aesthetic for the project.
  • Collaborating with other team members, passing unfinished work back and forth for improvements.
  • Learning and adapting to non-traditional art workflows and processes, while willing to learn new skills. We are looking for that “Indie dev” mindset.
  • Responds well to feedback and constructive criticism on their submissions and workflows, and demonstrates willingness to iterate on assets.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Creatively motivated, curious learn-it-all with a growth mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous and unregimented environments.
  • 3 – 5+ years of experience directly related to the role using Unreal Engine or similar engines.
  • Past experience with Blender or willing to learn Blender.
  • Experience creating procedural tileable textures in Substance Designer or equivalent.
  • Have experience creating First-Person game art.
  • Likes Sci-Fi and Horror media.
  • Appreciation for retro video games.

We are on the lookout for ambitious artists who want a chance to flex their creative muscles. Interested in joining a talented team and developing your skills? Does working on an exciting remake project appeal to you? If so, we encourage you to apply!
