OpenX seeks a Director, Engineering with experience in the ad tech programmatic ecosystem to lead multiple engineering teams focused on building and scaling AI-powered products. This is a strategic leadership role within the Outcomes and Optimizations organization, responsible for driving the technical direction and delivery of AI-centric solutions that power OpenX’s media platform. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Business to turn cutting-edge AI research into production-ready systems.

The role, while remote, is schedule-centered in the US Eastern time zone.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and drive the O&O technical strategy and vision in close partnership with Product leadership

Lead multiple high-performing engineering teams, setting clear goals and ensuring the timely delivery of robust, scalable software solutions.

Collaborate with Data Science leadership to translate research and models into production-grade systems

Ensure technical excellence through best practices in software design, code quality, observability, and automation

Foster a strong engineering culture of innovation, accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvement

Collaborate with engineering leadership to drive consistency across the platform and software development lifecycle (SDLC), establishing standards and practices that support scalability and long-term growth

Partner with business stakeholders to align engineering priorities with company goals and deliver measurable impact

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Ph.D. a plus)

10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years leading multiple engineering teams

Prior experience in the ad tech ecosystem or similar high-performance domains

Proven track record of delivering complex AI/ML-driven products at scale, ideally in high-throughput, low-latency environments

Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including system architecture, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure

Experience managing large codebases, setting technical direction, and instituting best practices

Excellent communication and leadership skills — able to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure

Experience with modern languages and frameworks such as Python, and Go

Experience partnering with Data Science and Product teams to deliver AI/ML capabilities
