Apr 22, 2025 - Blueland is hiring a remote Director of Data Management & Analytics. Salary: $180,000 - $225,000 per year. Location: USA.

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Data Management & Analytics to lead the development and execution of our company-wide data strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and governance of data across systems while delivering insights that inform key business decisions. You will collaborate cross-functionally to evolve the company’s data infrastructure for scale, establish scalable ongoing data practices, elevate reporting capabilities, and enable a data-driven culture. This role sits on the Growth Team, reporting to the SVP of Growth, and will manage & collaborate closely with our internal Analytics Manager who established Blueland’s data foundation.


Responsibilities:
  1. Establish and maintain Data Standards and Governance for Item Master and Customer Master Data
  2. Facilitate cross-functional execution of new or change management procedures to ensure data quality and consistency across all systems and reporting
  3. Ensure data from Shopify, Amazon, NetSuite, 3PL WMS (Warehouse Management System), and other systems are integrated and aligned, providing a unified view of master data and reporting
  4. Identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues, including duplication, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies across systems and reporting
  5. Manage & mentor knowledgeable internal Analytics Manager and partner on efficiently splitting up incoming data requests
  6. Partner with Sales Channel Leads, Product Marketing, Operations, & Finance to define data ownership and streamline data flows
  7. Build flexible dashboards in Looker to power self-serve reporting for the Growth Team (Acquisition, Retention, DTC Digital Product, Amazon, CX), Finance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams
  8. Be a key partner in developing demand planning models for existing products and upcoming new product launches across all sales channels (DTC, Amazon, Retail)
  9. Conduct deep dive analyses to inform key business decisions
  10. Evaluate tools and tech to strengthen data infrastructure and reduce reporting friction
  11. Drive data literacy and self-service reporting across the company through documentation and enablement


Qualifications:
  1. 7+ years in data management/governance and analytics in e-commerce and CPG environments
  2. Direct experience in ecommerce is required, with hands-on proficiency in Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, and NetSuite strongly preferred
  3. Experience with BI tools is required—Looker (preferred), Tableau, Power BI, etc. (bonus points for familiarity with Hex)
  4. Expert proficiency in SQL
  5. Familiarity with R and/or Python
  6. Direct experience with data infrastructure and/or engineering
  7. Deep understanding of master data concepts and experience implementing governance frameworks
  8. Strong grasp of key business/financial metrics including Margins (Product/Contribution/Net), CoGS, LTV, CAC, Cohort Reporting, Retail Velocities, etc.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills around data cleanup, deduplication, and system reconciliation
  10. Experience partnering across Marketing, Operations, and Finance to support cross-functional goals
  11. Comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a high-growth, resource-constrained startup environment
  12. Excellent communication skills—able to simplify complexity and influence stakeholders
  13. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications in data-related fields a plus
  14. Interested in and passionate about the environment, sustainability and the Blueland mission
The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $225,000 per year.
