Overview of Position

Varsity Tutors is seeking a Customer Retention Manager to join our team! The Customer Retention Manager will have a direct impact on business growth as we help more people achieve their academic goals and support our national expansion. The individual in this role will lead a team of customer retention professionals, responsible for hiring, management, development, and performance of the team. They will develop a talented team that assesses client needs, renews memberships, strengthens relations, and provides high-quality service. This role involves working closely with other leaders and executives, influencing company strategies and growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proven results in building teams and customer retention or success
  • 3+ years in customer retention, client relations, or success roles
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and motivational skills
  • Experience developing retention strategies and analyzing metrics
  • Ability to train teams in retention techniques
  • Experience managing high-performing teams
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and work some evenings/weekends
  • Understanding of Nerdy’s apolitical stance and focus on education

Responsibilities

  • Hire and onboard customer retention specialists
  • Coach, develop, and manage team performance
  • Manage daily team operations and conduct reviews
  • Meet targets for renewals, conversions, satisfaction, etc.
  • Understand client needs
  • Collaborate on motivational initiatives
  • Lead weekly team meetings
  • Promote company culture and engagement
  • Ensure proper use of CRM and platforms
