Location
Country Manager, Japan will be an integral part of our Sales Leadership team in APAC, reporting to our VP of Sales for EMEA & APAC. This role is based remotely in Japan.

The Opportunity

Our Country Manager, Japan will be accountable for the overall sales success of our Japan business. We are looking for a strategic and results-driven leader to develop, own and implement an ambitious business growth plan to deliver revenue increases and ensure margin targets are achieved. Responsible for fostering key relationships with target clients and strategic vendor stakeholders. Leading, managing, and motivating the sales team is a core requirement to ensure the team is clear on objectives and delivering results in line with expectations. Focused on driving new business while also managing existing customer relationships.

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the local tech ecosystem, a proven track record in building high-impact partnerships, and the ability to lead and develop a growing team. You will work closely with global and regional stakeholders to align our go-to-market strategy and ensure DoiT is positioned as a trusted partner for cloud innovation in Japan.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic business plan and set clear revenue and pipeline goals for the region. Deliver against assigned business targets.
  • Be responsible for growing, developing, and coaching the Japan sales team.
  • Ensure the team forecasts accurately and reports to senior management on a weekly basis.
  • Through the sales team, effectively manage relationships with key current customers to identify opportunities for growth and ensure retention is sustained at the highest level.
  • Help support the differentiation in the marketplace against DoiT’s competitors.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of an effective marketing plan in coordination with the marketing team to support the growth of the DoiT brand and business development activity in Japan.
  • Work closely with the business development team to ensure productive collaboration, supporting campaigns, messaging, and target segments.
  • Actively research, track, and report on key market trends and competitors to identify new market development opportunities in Japan.
  • Maintain and develop executive relationships with strategic cloud vendors.
  • Introduce ways to increase productivity and skills of the sales team.
  • Develop and maintain an annual hiring plan.
  • Work with the business operations team to identify scaling challenges and resolve those issues proactively.
  • Be an effective member of the management team, coordinating with other departments to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Set the company’s values and culture and reward and promote those in the team that lead by example.
  • Be responsible for large deal reviews and discount approvals.
Qualifications
  • Degree in business management, marketing, economics, or an associated degree.
  • 15+ years of experience in business development, direct sales, channel & account management.
  • Proven experience selling to local technology companies and startups.
  • Deep understanding and networking in the cloud ecosystem.
  • Successful track record hiring and leading a winning sales team.
  • An entrepreneur at heart who is independent, creative, passionate, and approachable.
  • Networker with the ability to create, join, and grow social circles and partnerships easily.
  • Data-driven, self-organized, motivated to get their hands dirty without losing focus on strategy.
  • Experience working with international, cross-cultural, and cross-time-zone teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
