A day in the life:

As an Analytics Engineer, you’ll help maintain and improve our novaCloud data warehouse to support analytics for performance marketing, ecommerce, and site activity. Your day will involve working with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements, develop and monitor data pipelines, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of our data. Additionally, you'll work on the enterprise warehouse, which helps our agency understand revenue generated by clients and manage client churn, financial forecasting, HR information, and client performance metrics. Your expertise in building ontologies between performance marketing and customer 360 data models will be crucial in maintaining a robust data infrastructure that facilitates powerful data analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining clean, analytics-ready data models (e.g., star, snowflake schemas) under guidance from senior engineers
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and transformations, ensuring efficient data retrieval and accuracy, while reviewing best practices with senior team members
  • Monitor and maintain data pipelines, assisting in debugging issues and working with senior engineers to implement fixes
  • Implement data quality checks using predefined validation rules and work on resolving flagged issues
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and senior analytics engineers to translate data requirements into structured models
  • Support data marts and curated datasets, ensuring that business users have accurate, up-to-date, and accessible information
  • Handle support tickets, troubleshooting data-related issues and escalating more complex problems to senior engineers
  • Maintain documentation for data models, transformations, and business definitions to help improve transparency and consistency
  • Develop and maintain Looker dashboards and reports, ensuring they meet business needs and provide actionable insights
  • Participate in identifying and suggesting process improvements for data pipelines and transformation tools
  • Employ AI technologies to enhance and optimize business processes
  • Utilize and leverage Power Digital's Nova ecosystem as it relates to your department

Role Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in designing and implementing basic data models for analytics and business intelligence, focusing on supporting centralized and accessible data structures within data warehouses
  • 1-3 years of experience in SQL-based data transformations using tools like dbt, with exposure to ETL/ELT processes and a willingness to learn best practices for optimizing data structures
  • 1+ years of experience working with data warehousing principles and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), assisting in the creation and maintenance of analytics-ready datasets
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot data discrepancies, monitor data pipelines, and support performance optimizations under guidance
  • Experience working with or supporting cross-functional teams, including data engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders, to understand data needs and contribute to analytical solutions
  • Some experience or coursework in documenting data models, definitions, and transformations, with a willingness to improve documentation and maintain data quality standards
  • Exposure to new tools and methodologies in analytics engineering, with a proactive approach to learning and improving data transformation and delivery processes
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely Resolution of Support Tickets – Ensure data-related critical support tickets are resolved within 1 business day, meanwhile lower-priority tickets are resolved within SLA targets, maintaining a high ticket closure rate and meeting time-to-resolution (TTR) benchmarks
  • On-Time Delivery of Data Models & Enhancements – Maintain sprint velocity with the goal to complete 90% of planned tasks each sprint. Tasks include completing new data models, Looker developments, and model optimizations on schedule, aligning with project timelines and stakeholder expectations
  • Contribution to Documentation & Data Transparency – Maintain and improve data model documentation at the end of each sprint (2 week cadence), reflecting the changes we’ve made. This includes updating, Looker definitions, and transformation logic, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams

  • Support and Maintain Data Accuracy & Reliability – Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines to ensure data remains accurate, reliable, and high-quality for business decision-making
  • Optimize Query Performance & Data Transformations – Write and refine SQL queries and data transformations with guidance, contributing to efficient processing times and minimizing latency
  • Assist in Self-Service Data Enablement – Help maintain Looker dashboards and reports, addressing user issues and supporting non-technical teams in accessing and interpreting data
  • Adapt Data Models Based on Evolving Requirements – Work with senior engineers and business teams to understand changing data needs, supporting updates and enhancements to models
  • Contribute to Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Keep documentation up to date, ensuring data models, LookML definitions, and transformation logic are well-documented and accessible
