Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Hip-Hop Dance Instructor to provide academic enhancement and enrichment in the Y Afterschool program, including Holiday Camps. They will create a safe, positive environment for school-age children and deliver age-appropriate Hip-Hop Dance instruction across grades in the Y Afterschool program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• College credits preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with youth, specifically with children and planning Hip-Hop Dance activities.
• Formal certification in Hip-Hop Dance required.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants with appropriate supervision.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and events that are engaging and value-based.
• Teach the fundamentals of Hip-Hop Dance and build skills and confidence.
• Coordinate and present a culminating performance at program end.
• Collaborate with Afterschool Counselors, staff, teachers, and other program personnel.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment for all participants.
• Maintain program documentation (sign-in/out, attendance, behavior/incidents).
• Work with Site Director to secure equipment and supplies.
• Communicate YMCA core values and program goals to participants and caregivers.
