Job summary

SOSi is seeking Farsi, Pashto, and Dari Language Linguists to support a range of translation and interpretation duties for a government customer in Reston, VA. Successful candidates will monitor, translate, and summarize intercepts, identify conversants, and ensure accurate English renditions.

Requirements include a Secret clearance and a Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years of combined experience; strong English proficiency and typing speed (40 wpm) are essential for timely deliverables.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 4 years of combined work and educational experience.
• Successfully undergo language assessment in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
• Excellent command of English and ability to provide clear, concise communications.
• Ability to understand foreign language and translate to English with accurate meaning.
• Typing at least 40 wpm; government may waive in extenuating circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and translate/interprete word-for-word and summarize intercepts.
• Prepare English summaries (gist) of intercepted material.
• Identify conversants using voice library or context.
• Enter and sign summaries and transcripts as required.
• Maintain slang word lists and prepare digital copies for storage.
• Perform administrative duties related to gists, summaries, and binders.
