Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a HIMS Technician to compile, process, and maintain patient records in accordance with healthcare standards. You will contribute to a patient-centered, values-driven environment and support our nationwide inpatient rehabilitation leadership.

Qualifications

• RHIT certification or equivalent preferred.
• Diploma or degree from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Minimum three years of hospital HIMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain delinquent records at less than 50% of the average discharge rate.
• Monitor staff deficiencies and ensure all IRF-PAI data elements are completed.
• Complete physician and staff deficiency checklist.
• Perform final check of medical records before designation as complete.
• Abstract discharge date for PATCOM system for all discharged inpatients.
• Accurately enter all PATCOM HIMS data.
• Monitor and correct errors on daily exception reports.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate of accredited college or university.
• Medical Record Technology College or vocational school preferred.
• Minimum three years of hospital HIMS experience preferred in lieu of certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• One year data entry experience preferred.
