Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a HIMS Technician to manage patient records, ensure accuracy, and support compliance with healthcare standards in Henderson, NV. This role emphasizes meticulous data entry, record integrity, and timely processing within our inpatient rehabilitation network.

You will collaborate with clinical and coding teams, monitor discharge data, and perform routine audits in PATCOM and IRF-PAI processes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• RHIT preferred or equivalent credential considered.

Responsibilities

• Maintains delinquent records at less than 50% of the average discharge rate.
• Monitors staff deficiencies and assures that all IRF-PAI data elements are completed.
• Completes physician and staff deficiency checklist.
• Performs final check of medical records before designating records complete.
• Abstracts discharge date for PATCOM system for all discharged inpatients.
• Accurately completes data entry of all PATCOM HIMS data.
• Monitors and corrects errors on daily exception reports.

• Registered Health Information (RHIT) preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate of accredited college or university.
• Medical Record Technology College or vocational school preferred.
• Minimum three years of hospital HIMS experience preferred in lieu of certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• One year data entry experience preferred.
