Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Health Information Management Services (HIMS) Clerk to support patient records and information management. The role focuses on assembling, filing, and locating medical records while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards.

You will respond to requests for records and ensure timely processing of H&P notes and discharge dates. Ideal candidates have a High School diploma and experience with data entry and hospital HIMS, with a preference for 1 year of relevant

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of hospital HIMS experience preferred.
• Data entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, sort, and collate medical records and information in patient files.
• File and retrieve medical records.
• Locate records for review by ancillary departments, committees or surveys.
• Examine patient records for completeness and ensure all information is included.
• Answer telephone calls and take requests for medical records or information.
• Notify physicians for any H&P's not completed within 24 hours of admission.
• Pull and log records to be sent to outside storage as needed.
• Route originals and copies of dictation to proper areas.
• Pick up and deliver patient medical records.
• Assign accurate discharge dates for outpatients in PATCOM within policy timelines.
