Nuvance Health is seeking a HIM Technician II to prep, scan, and quality control inpatient and outpatient medical records into the Online Medical Record system. You will also cover Front Desk during off-hours and ensure compliance with bylaw and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Preps and assembles permanent record documents in required order for scanning, ensuring pages have form barcodes and name labels, affixing labels as necessary.
• Performs scanning according to department procedures and maintains setup for scanners to ensure image quality; troubleshoots routine scanning software/hardware issues.
• Manually indexes documents within the online record if automatic indexing fails and reorders documents as needed.
• Performs quality control review on all documents through prep, scan, and indexing stages; makes corrections.
• Indexes and quality controls WCMG documents scanned by practices and inbound fax queue; follows policies.
• Identifies serious quality issues in the online record and takes appropriate action.
• Performs Front Desk Reception duties on nights, weekends or holiday shifts (phones, walk-ins, STAT tasks, radiology CDs, discharge processing).
• Performs qualitative record review to ensure documentation compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintains scanner setup and communicates maintenance issues to supervisor.
• Analyzes online IP/OP medical records for missing signatures and dictation deficiencies per HIS policy.
• Accurately assigns deficiencies to practitioners in the online chart completion module; assists clinicians.
