Job summary

Harris Health in Houston, TX seeks a Health Information Records professional to ensure timely scanning and uploading of clinical documents to patient records, while safeguarding information in line with HIPAA standards.

You will answer calls, assist with disclosing records to requestors, and support data entry, filing, and retrieval of paper records across ACS, Correctional Center and hospital locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• RHIA certification preferred.
• 4 years of experience in Medical Records or related healthcare.
• Bilingual skills preferred.
• Strong communication, writing and data entry skills.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Ensure clinical documents are scanned/uploaded to the Medical Record within 48 hours.
• Protect patient records to meet HIPAA standards.
• Manage document retention to maintain MRN in original condition.
• Answer and transfer incoming calls; assist with disclosing records.
• Assist with data entry, filing, and retrieval of paper records.
