Job summary

Halifax Health is seeking an experienced HIM Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day HIM Operations activities including chart completion, record processing, and imaging. You will lead training, performance management, and ensure regulatory compliance across the department.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in HIM/revenue cycle, HIPAA expertise, and RHIT/RHIA credentials preferred, with Epic experience, strong communication, and a proven ability to coach staff and meet KPIs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years experience in HIM and/or revenue cycle
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal requirements for medical record documentation and retention
  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA requirements
  • RHIT or RHIA preferred
  • Epic Experience Preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate and motivate staff
  • Ability to train and motivate others

Responsibilities

  • Supervise HIM Operations staff, including hiring, scheduling, training, and timely performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for executing and meeting KPIs as determined by leadership
  • Responsible for oversight of staff including individual goal setting and mentorship for growth
  • Identify areas for efficiency and process improvement, providing proactive solutions or recommendations
  • Implement changes as directed by leadership, including data from Analysts and business parters within revenue cycles, for workflow and quality improvement
  • Ensure timely processing of health records to support clinical and administrative needs.
  • Maintain positive relationships with physicians and department leadership
  • Escalate department issues and concerns to IT, operational, and HIM leadership as appropriate
  • Conduct team huddles to communicate organizational updates, common trends, and encourage team members.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for HIM chart completion and record processing
  • Maintain adherence to HIPAA, Joint Commission, and organizational policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Day (United States of America) HIM Operations Supervisor

The HIM Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Health Information Management (HIM) Operations team. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant management of medical records, including chart completion, record processing, and document imaging. The supervisor provides leadership, training, and performance management for HIM Operations staff to meet and maintain departmental goals and regulatory compliance.
