Job summary

North Texas Rehabilitation Institue is seeking a HIM Manager/Coder to join the leadership team, working closely with the CEO and Clinical Directors. The role combines independent work with collaboration among clinical professionals to support accurate coding and revenue cycle improvements.

Responsibilities include providing coding expertise across the hospital, ensuring timely charts coded under ICD-10 per guidelines, supporting the Health Information Services department, and supervising HIM

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of inpatient or outpatient coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines.
• CPC, CCS, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA certification via AHIMA or AAPC.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in coding and classification systems to healthcare providers and drive improvements in reimbursement and the revenue cycle.
• Code charts in accordance with ICD-10 and AHA coding guidelines.
• Support the Health Information Services Department with clerical, technical, and related tasks.
• Perform other daily HIM duties as assigned.
• Supervise and evaluate HIM department personnel.

The HIM Manager/Coder is part of the hospital’s leadership team, working closely with CEO and Clinical Director’s.

Successful candidates will enjoy working both independently and collaborating with a team of clinical professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Provide expertise in the areas of coding and classification systems to healthcare providers throughout our hospital, and help drive improvements of reimbursement, and the revenue cycle.
2. Responsible for timely coding charts in accordance with the current principles of ICD-10 and AHA coding guidelines.
3. Supports the Health Information Services Department through a variety of clerical, technical, and related support services.
4. Performs other daily duties within the Health Information Management Services department as assigned.
5. Supervises and evaluates the performance of HIM department personnel.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 2 years of inpatient or outpatient coding experience preferred.
2. Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines
