Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. seeks a Director of Health Information Management for La Amistad Behavioral Health Services in Maitland, FL.

The role oversees the HIM department, ensures accurate documentation, and maintains compliance with behavioral health regulations while collaborating with clinical, IT, and administrative teams. The incumbent will drive EHR enhancements, supervise HIM staff, and lead quality assurance and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Records Information required.
• Five years of Medical Records/HIM experience with hospital or behavioral health settings preferred.
• RHIA or RHIT with management experience; active AHIMA certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HIM department to ensure accurate and timely patient care documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for behavioral health.
• Develop and monitor policies protecting privacy and security of health records.
• Oversee medical coding and billing using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and DSM-5 standards.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, IT, and staff to optimize EHR functionality.
• Manage HIM staffing, budgeting, and professional development.
• Lead initiatives to improve EHR adoption and reporting specific to behavioral health.
• Analyze health data to support clinical outcomes and reimbursement efforts.
• Guide audits and QA reviews related to health information management.
