Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a Coding Manager to oversee the inpatient/outpatient coding staff and ensure accurate, timely coding to support hospital billing. You will drive audit summaries, update coding guidelines, and mentor coders in applying current ICD-9-CM and CPT rules.

The role requires a CCS credential, a bachelor’s degree in HIM or related field, and 3–5 years of ICD-9-CM coding experience, with PPS knowledge. Day shift, on-site at The Valley Health System-Ridgewood.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HIM or related field is required.
• CCS credential is required.
• RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience with ICD-9-CM coding, DRGs, and PPS.

Responsibilities

• Manage Inpatient/Outpatient Coding staff and all coding functions.
• Ensure timely completion of accurate and complete coding for billing requirements.
• Summarize PRO/Quality Control Audits with coders and update guidelines.
• Research and apply new coding guidelines as needed.
