Bakersfield Family Medical Group seeks an HIM Clerk to safeguard confidential medical records, manage paper and electronic files, and support scanning/filing in the EMR. The role includes answering inquiries, processing requests for protected information, and cross-training for coverage across satellite clinics.
Preference is given to candidates with at least two years of certified EHR experience and NextGen NCP certification. Excellent customer service and adherence to HIPAA rules are essential.
Under the direction of the HIM Supervisor this position is responsible to maintain confidentiality of paper and electronic medical records and information. Release medical information according to requirements outlined in State and Federal Rules and Regulations. Maintain excellent Customer Service skills. Answer telephones and process requests accurately. Process documents for scanning and filing into the EMR. Maintain processes for scanning of old records. Maintain and store old paper records and x-ray films. Perform in-house runner duties as required. Provide coverage for HIM clerks in other satellite clinics as needed. The Scanner/HIM Clerk will interact with other departments, clinic personnel, and outside providers in a professional and friendly manner, to create and maintain a positive relationship with our internal and external customers.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be reasonably between $23.00 and $27.06. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
