HIM Associate II – Southlake Campus
Position Summary
The Health Information Management Associate II performs essential functions for Patient Identity, Chart Completion, Document Management, and Release of Information. The role conducts quality assurance audits and must meet performance and productivity standards within the department. The HIM Associate II has the opportunity to become an EPIC Super User.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Process medical record information, including incorporating documentation into the electronic medical record, managing release of information, chart tracking, chart completion, and monitoring quality documentation within the EMR.
- Handle Release of Information requests for the legal department and attorneys.
- Perform quality assurance and performance improvement auditing, tracking, and trending.
- Respond to incoming telephone calls and voicemails from patients, health care professionals, and payors in a timely and professional manner.
- Consistently meet quality performance standards as defined by the department.
- Consistently achieve productivity performance and meet production standards for the specific job role.
- Acquire in‑depth knowledge of the HIM departmental systems that support the electronic medical record through formal and on‑the‑job training.
- Serve as an EPIC super user (requires training); handle user questions and train staff using a train‑the‑trainer model.
- Perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in data entry, chart completion, statistics, release of information, patient identity, quality analysis, or scanning.
- At least 1 year of experience using Epic.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to travel within Health System locations.
