Job summary

Milliken & Company in Simpsonville, SC is seeking a needleline operator to join our manufacturing team. You will follow safety procedures, set up the control panel, run the needleline, and perform quality checks on carpet production.

This role requires attention to specs, timely documentation, and shift-to-shift handoffs. We value reliability and adherence to process controls as you manage lot changes, color cards, and line setups.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures for the needleline as well as the plant.
  • Lock out the machine when completing DTM, cleans, or other activities that require the machine to be powered off.
  • The needleline operator sets up the control panel.
  • Complete all required steps of the clean and verify there is no contamination in the carpet.
  • The needleline operator must review each spec before starting the style for any changes that have been made. The style should be setup utilizing the spec and run chart information.
  • The needleline operator is required to run spec speed at all times, if for some reason spec speed cannot be reached, they must contact the shift leader or PI for support.
  • Complete the color card at the start of each new lot.
  • At each operator change and shift change the color card and setup should be reviewed.
  • Change the needleboards when appropriate or requested by PPI.
  • The needleline operator starts the needleline.
  • The needleline operator is responsible for the quality of the carpet run on the machine. He/she should inspect the carpet for any defects when they are not transporting rolls or completing other quality checks.
  • The needleline operator performs required quality checks.
  • The needleline operator must complete the lot verification sheet for every lot processed. (Ref. FMNDL006)
  • Once the line is running first quality, the operator must document all run settings on the appropriate run chart.
  • At shift change or operator change all specs and line setups must be verified before proceeding to run the needleline. Any differences in the specs or setups outside the tolerances must be reported to the appropriate manager.
  • The needleline operator doffs rolls, starts new rolls, and records all appropriate information.
  • Needleline operator needs to make the appropriate ticket for each roll. SAP, Waste, Development, etc.
  • The needleline operator plots his shift efficiency on the glass wall at the end of his shift.
  • The needleline operator completes and passes on paperwork to the appropriate area.
  • The needleline operator contacts the area PI if a change is needed to the specs or line setups.
  • The needleline operator can operate the weigh hopper system.
  • The needleline operator understands how to read and follow blending orders.
  • The needleline operator understands they have the right and responsibility to stop the machine for a Safety, quality or mechanical issue.
