Delta Electronics Americas seeks a skilled test engineer to own the test strategy for the full microgrid control stack, from firmware through RT, SCADA, and EMS. You will build HIL benches, automate regression, and produce evidence for UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547-2018, and FAT/SAT tests.

You will design and operate HIL test benches, define islanding and ride-through test plans, and drive automated pipelines using Python, TestStand, and Azure DevOps in a CI/CD workflow.

Qualificações

• BS/MS in Electrical / Power / Control Systems Engineering.
• 4+ years in controls testing, HIL, or commissioning.
• Hands-on with RTDS and/or OPAL-RT, including model build and I/O mapping.
• Strong Python scripting; experience with automation frameworks (pytest, robot, TestStand, LabVIEW).
• Knowledge of Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 (GOOSE/MMS), DNP3 and how to inject/simulate them in tests.
• Familiarity with UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547-2018, FAT/SAT processes in energy storage and microgrids.

• Run integration tests across layers to validate timing, data contracts, alarms, and failover behavior.
• Generate certification evidence and test reports for IEEE 1547-2018, UL 1741-SB, FAT/SAT tests.
• Support commissioning and field issues into regression cases.

Role Summary

You will own the test strategy for the full microgrid control stack — from PCS/BESS firmware and Unit Controller through RT, SCADA, and EMS. You will build and run HIL test benches on RTDS automate regression, and produce the evidence needed for UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547-2018, and customer/utility acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and operate HIL test benches using RTDS — model power systems, PCS/BESS, and grid scenarios
• Define test plans for islanding, blackstart, ride-through (LVRT/HVRT/FRT), protection coordination, mode transitions, and EMS dispatch
• Build automated regression: Python / TestStand / pytest pipelines integrated with Azure DevOps CI/CD; publish coverage and pass/fail dashboards
• Run integration tests across different layers validate timing, data contracts, alarm propagation, and failover behavior
• Generate certification evidence and test reports for IEEE 1547-2018, UL 1741-SB, and customer specific factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT)
• Support commissioning and field issues into regression cases

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical / Power / Control Systems Engineering; 4+ years (Senior: 7+) in controls testing, HIL, or commissioning
• Hands‑on with RTDS and/or OPAL-RT, including model build, I/O mapping, and amplifier interfaces (PHIL is a plus)
• Strong Python scripting; experience with one automation framework (pytest, robot, TestStand, LabVIEW)
• Working knowledge of Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 (GOOSE/MMS), DNP3 — and how to inject/simulate them in test
• Familiarity with UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547-2018, and FAT/SAT processes for energy storage and microgrids

Preferred Qualifications

• Cybersecurity test exposure (fuzzing protocols, IEC 62443 verification)
• Field commissioning experience on BESS / microgrid / utility‑scale projects
