Individuals selected must be able to respond to emergency callout within 1 hour during inclement weather, including all snow and ice conditions, to be considered for this position.
Duties: Perform routine manual tasks requiring medium to heavy physical effort involving exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. Will be expected to operate plows during winter operations and to obtain the equipment certifications listed above. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Minimum Requirements:
Within the first two weeks of employment, applicant must satisfactorily complete NYSDOT Heavy Dump Certification, or their employment will be terminated.
NOTE: All candidates must pass a pre-employment physical/medical examination and drug test prior to beginning employment. Cannabis use is not permitted for employees in this title and assignment. Cannabis use will be tested for during the pre-employment screening process and may be the basis for disqualification for employment or may be a basis for removal from employment.
*Candidates who meet both of the following MAY be eligible to bypass the pre-employment physical: A valid CDL A or B AND a current (less than 2 years old) CDL Medical Certificate (form MCSA 5876) that meets specific criteria which will be discussed at the time of interview.
