Assists with placing traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance activities. Operates small equipment such as dump truck, tractor (less than or equal too 10' wide) with mower or broom, brush chipper, roller (less than or equal too 4 tons), and forklift to perform a variety of vegetation maintenance activities, manual labor to assist with the installation and repair of catch basins and other drainage structures and the placement of drainage pipes. Performs construction, repair, and preservation of asphalt and concrete pavements using proper repair techniques. This work also involves using handheld or pneumatic tools and compaction equipment. Picks up litter, debris and dead animals. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Assists in the emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours. Operates a dump truck with a snow plow, spreader, and brine sprayer.
**THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN DISTRICT 3 - SPARTANBURG MAINTENANCE**
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position.
