Job Responsibilities

Operates small equipment like dump trucks, pneumatic rollers, and tractors with mowers. Performs duties using manual labor in such maintenance tasks as clearing of right of way, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulder, patching potholes, making base repairs, repairs to bridges, paving driveways, replacing steel guardrails and laying sideline/cross line pipe. Performs manual labor in building catch basins, pouring concrete for curbs and raised median, laying pipes for driveways and other drainage structures and clearing right of ways. Performs traffic control operations for work zones, to include flagging traffic for the safety of the crew and the public, during various phases of roadway maintenance. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations and being on-call for after hour emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
