The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a field worker to support traffic control and maintenance across the state's roadways. You will help with signs, pavement markings, barricades, and flagging to ensure safe traffic flow.
You may assist in emergencies and adverse weather, with possible extended hours or 12-hour shifts; lifting up to 50 lbs and operating a dump truck as needed. Training completion for CDL within 6 months is required.
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
