Description
WSDOT is seeking multiple enthusiastic Highway Maintenance Workers to join our Highway Maintenance team across various locations in King County. This role involves outdoor manual labor, operating equipment, and maintaining highways and right-of-ways to ensure safety and traffic flow. Dependability and growth potential are encouraged.

Responsibilities
The Highway Maintenance Worker will:

  • Perform highway, roadside, infrastructure, and right-of-way maintenance.
  • Install and repair safety features like guardrails and barriers.
  • Operate heavy equipment.
  • Manage traffic control operations and closures.
  • Conduct snow and ice control operations.
  • Respond to emergencies such as accidents or spills.

Qualifications
To qualify at the Highway Maintenance Worker 2 level, candidates must have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related experience or one year as Highway Maintenance Worker 1.
  • Valid Washington State CDL Class A with endorsements and a medical card.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Availability for emergency response, extended shifts, and standby duties.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, terrains, heights, and near traffic.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional certifications such as a Pesticide Applicator’s License, Traffic Control/Flagging Card, Backflow Tester Certification, or Crane Certificate are preferred.

Additional Notes
