Job summary

Itasca County is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Transportation, Road & Bridge Division. Operate equipment such as loader, dozer, hydraulic-excavator, patrol-motor grader, and tandem truck to maintain or repair County roads and bridges.

The position requires performing tasks like cutting trees, maintaining rights-of-way, traffic control, and snow and ice control operations. Normal hours are 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Operate heavy equipment to maintain or repair County roads and bridges.
• Perform maintenance of right-of-way, tree cutting, traffic control, and snow/ice operations.

Position Description: Operate heavy equipment (i.e. loader, dozer, hydraulic-excavator, patrol-motor grader, tandem truck) to maintain or repair County roads. Performs a variety of duties related to the maintenance of County roads and bridges such as cutting trees, maintenance of right-of-way, traffic control, snow and ice control operations.

Work Hours: Normal hours of work shall be 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., overtime as necessary and approved. Summer hours may be Monday - Thursday, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
