Job summary

Winona County is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker for the Winona Shop. The role involves operating heavy and light equipment and maintaining county roads, bridges, and drainage systems. You may work in rough terrain and during extreme weather to keep driving conditions safe for the public.

The position starts at $28.21/hour (DOQ) with advancement up to $36.49/hour. It’s a full-time, on-site role requiring a Class B license; within one year, a Class A with tanker endorsement is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class B driver's license; within 1 year obtain Class A with tanker endorsement.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.
• Experience operating heavy equipment desirable.
• Knowledge of road signs and highway safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair county roads and bridges including culverts and drainage.
• Operate equipment such as graders, loaders, excavators, and trucks.
• Perform routine vehicle service and maintenance of shop equipment.
• Work in extreme weather and low-light conditions to ensure safe travel.
• Provide safe, professional service and represent the County positively.
