The State of Florida Department of Transportation’s District 4 – Treasure Coast Operations in FT. Pierce, FL is hiring for a Highway Maintenance Technician II.

The role performs routine roadway maintenance to keep highways safe and reliable, operating CDL-equipped vehicles and machinery along with routine inspections and minor repairs. Applicants must hold a valid Class E license with CDL instructional permit eligibility, be ready for CDL training, and meet safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Operates a variety of hand and power tools with safety and efficiency.
• Performs pre-trip inspection and minor maintenance on assigned vehicles/equipment.
• Maintains highways, bridges and related structures.
• Reads and follows safety instructions and job-related reports.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment (e.g., backhoe, tractors) and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct temporary traffic control as needed.
• Assist in the construction and erection of highway signs and related structures.
• Assist in cleaning, painting, and carpentry tasks as part of maintenance operations.
