Job summary

Vets Hired is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician to maintain roadways and related infrastructure. You will perform repairs, debris removal, incident response, operate heavy equipment, and install roadway safety features while following safety standards.

This role requires physical stamina, ability to work in varying weather, and willingness to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts. CDL Class A and MOT certification are preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Roadway maintenance or construction experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and on-call as required.
• Ability to pass background screening, fingerprinting, and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine highway maintenance and repair activities.
• Repair potholes, fences, guardrails, bridges, and longitudinal cable barriers.
• Perform roadway seeding, sod installation, and herbicide application.
• Conduct road patrols and remove debris from roadways.
• Respond to roadway incidents and emergency maintenance needs.
• Operate heavy equipment and maintenance vehicles.
• Install, repair, and maintain roadway signs.
• Perform bridge maintenance and repair work.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely.
• Follow all safety procedures and applicable regulations.
• Use smartphones and mobile applications to support daily operations.
• Work on-call, nights, weekends, and during emergency situations as required.
