Job summary

State of Colorado, through CDOT, seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist for La Veta Pass, CO. The role focuses on snow plowing, heavy equipment operation, and roadside maintenance to keep Colorado roadways open and safe. On-call shifts and extreme-weather work are common.

CDOT offers comprehensive benefits, PERA retirement, and opportunities for advancement. CDL required; 2+ years of labor/equipment experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• Experience operating equipment such as dump trucks, front end loaders, bulldozers, backhoes.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow.
• Operating heavy equipment (dump trucks, loaders, tractors).
• Mowing grass and weeds.
• Removing debris from roadways and culverts.
• Installing and repairing guardrails, signs, and lighting.
• Filling potholes and cracks; setting out traffic control devices.
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs.
