Job summary

CALTRANS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II in California is a permanent intermittent position in Trinity County, requiring operation of Category 1 and 2 equipment, including end-dump trucks, front-end loaders, graders, snow plows, and sanders. The role supports highway maintenance tasks, from paving and shoulder work to ditch cleaning and signage repair, with overtime and on-call duties as storms or emergencies arise.

You may be assigned to three locations with up to 1500 hours per year.

Qualifications

• Valid California CDL with Tank Vehicle endorsement required.
• Experience operating Category 1 and 2 equipment.
• Willing to work overtime, nights, weekends, and during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate end-dump trucks 2–10 cu. yd, with automatic or manual transmission, and equipped with snowplows and sanders.
• Operate front-end loaders, motor graders, snow blowers, equipment trailers, rear & side flail mowers, slope mowers and other related vehicles.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks such as paving, shoulder grading, mowing, ditch cleaning, patching and maintenance of roadside facilities.
