Job summary

State of Indiana's Indiana Department of Transportation in Indianapolis seeks a Hoosier Helper Safety Service Patrol crew member. You will operate a specialty SSP truck to speed incident removal, restore traffic flow, and assist motorists by diagnosing minor mechanical problems.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL preferred or must obtain within 90 days.
• Drug test required for employment.
• Must be able to move weight up to 50 pounds.
• Must read, write and communicate effectively.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Patrol, respond to freeway incidents, set up traffic control and verify incidents.
• Serve as liaison to Supervisor by identifying deficiencies and advising solutions.
• Monitor traffic conditions and report problems or unusual delays.
• Perform pre-operation vehicle inspections and inventory checks.
• Complete incident logs, motorist service logs, time sheets and daily reports.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite is an essential function.
