With over 50 years of experience in NY's Capital Region and adjacent areas, our team provides expertise in civil engineering, surveying, and construction inspection.

We are seeking a qualified Engineer with 6+ years' of experience to join our Highway Design Group in our Albany and Westchester (Ossining) Offices. Our highway engineers work on a variety of projects and collaborate with traffic engineers, structure engineers, and construction inspection staff.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in part of a major project.
  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment and independent evaluation.
  • Apply standard technology and procedures.
  • Conduct analysis and choose appropriate applications.
  • Anticipate project objectives.
  • Complete intermediate and limited complex engineering assignments.
  • Perform cost and quantity estimating.
  • Attend project meetings and present engineering aspects.
  • Write reports for basic and some intermediate projects.
  • Manage staffing, scope, schedule, and budget for basic projects.
  • Handle client relations for routine projects.
  • Delegate and supervise Engineers III and Technicians.
  • Coordinate for multi-discipline projects (intermediate level).
  • Receive guidance on complex technical problems.
Responsibilities include:
  • Develop roadway, trail, and sidewalk designs.
  • Design intersections, roundabouts, and traffic signals.
  • Check design calculations prepared by others.
  • Prepare construction contract documents.
  • Coordinate projects, write reports, and estimate costs.
  • Communicate directly with clients.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program or equivalent; P.E. licensure required.
  • 6 years of relevant engineering experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microstation, Inroads, and AutoTurn.
  • Knowledge of NYSDOT Highway Design Manual.
  • Active member of a professional organization.

Minimum Years of Experience:
  • 6+
Education:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering
Certification/Licensure:
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
Technical Responsibilities:
  • Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and project documents.
  • Conduct analyses and interpret test data.
  • Develop and review project documents for quality assurance.
Project and Task Management:
  • Assign tasks, plan, and coordinate engineering work.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist in proposals and funding efforts.
Management Responsibility:
  • Work under general direction on key objectives.
  • Guide on complex problems and new approaches.
  • Mentor junior staff and review work products.
  • Present engineering aspects in meetings.
Communication Skills:
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
