Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Highway Electrical Technician I to perform routine maintenance, repair, and installation of highway lighting on nearby highways. This role involves working from elevated heights to service overhead highway fixtures, light poles, ramp signage, and signals. A daily presence at the Ocoee, FL location is required.

What You’ll Do:

1. Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit
2. Drill holes for wiring and pull or push wiring through openings
3. Trace short circuits in wiring
4. Follow Company and client Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
5. Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors
6. Perform minor repairs like replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches
7. Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and parts
8. Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace worn parts, and reassemble
9. Work from elevated locations, sometimes as high as 60', near water in a bucket truck
10. Perform hurricane season preparations and post-storm cleanup
11. Conduct Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) during on-call needs and support lane closures/flagging for first responders and accident victims
12. Perform vehicle and work site inspections pre-trip and post-trip
13. Engage in landscape maintenance duties, including mowing, herbicide and fertilizer application, weed control, and pruning
14. Clean and grade ditches, stormwater drainage structures, highway shoulders, and slopes
15. Fill and patch asphalt potholes and distressed areas
16. Perform general maintenance such as fence repair, sign replacement, and debris removal
17. Repair and replace guardrail components and attenuators
18. Conduct concrete repairs on sidewalks, bridges, or overpasses
19. Log maintenance work orders and checklists manually and electronically
20. Gather tools and supplies for work sites
21. Load and unload equipment, supplies, tools, and materials
22. Ensure all equipment is used safely
23. Perform other duties as required

What You’ll Bring:

• At least 18 years old
• High School Diploma/GED
• 1-2 years of residential or commercial electrical experience
• Ability to work with 277/480 volts
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain medical certification
• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
• Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods
• Willingness to work multiple shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to work along roadways with passing traffic
• Adherence to on-call schedules and emergency callbacks
• Obtain MOT certification (training paid for by the company)
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
• Successful completion of pre-employment screenings (background check, MVR, drug test)
• Compliance with company drug and alcohol policies
• Authorization to work in the US or ability to obtain it by start date

Compensation

Expected Salary: $17-$19/hr
