Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Highway Engineer to design roadways, perform civil calculations, and compare design options. You will estimate project costs, develop specifications, and assist in solving complex problems with standards like AASHTOO and MUTCD.

Travel is less than 10% domestically in a hybrid schedule. The role requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, plus EIT and GIS certificates.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree from ABET accredited university required or by substitution with 3 years of highway engineering experience.
• EIT certification or in progress within 6 months of hire.
• GIS certificate desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design roadways/highways with civil design calculations and modeling.
• Assist in estimating construction cost and professional hours; develop specs.
• Attend design review meetings and interact with clients/contractors.

Your impact

Design roadways and highways including performing civil design calculations, modeling, and technical comparisons. Research design options while taking a broad prospective to identify different solutions. Provide project cost estimating; develop specifications and assist in solving complex problems. Perform estimating for construction cost and professional service hours, monitor and report on progress and ensure quality of the highway effort is against schedule and budget. Attend project meetings and design review meetings, while interacting with clients/contractors a highway designer. Use design tools AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, and Open Roads Designer. Reference AASHTOO guidelines, Roadside Design Guide, ITD standards, ACHD standards, MUTCD Guidebook, and other industry standards.

Hybrid schedule is allowed.

TRAVEL: Less than 10% domestic travel to visit project sites.

Here’s what you’ll need

• REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: a Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field, and 3 years of work experience as a Highway Engineer or closely related occupation.
• Special Skills or Other Requirements::

• 1.Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university
• 2.E.I.T (Engineer In Training) Certificate, or in progress of obtaining E.I.T. within 6 months of hire
• 3.G.I.S. (Geographic Information Systems) Certificate.

• 4.Design software, for example, AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, and Open Roads Designer.
• 5.Roadway Design standards, for example, AASHTOO guidelines, Roadside Design Guide, ITD standards, ACHD standards, and MUTCD Guidebook.
• 6.Communicating technical reports to non-engineers.

The base salary range for this position is $114,982.00 to $121,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
