Job summary

State of Arizona Department of Transportation in Arizona is hiring Highway Operations Workers at entry level, with hourly rates from $18.19 to $24.45. A $4,000 hiring incentive is available. Primary duties include operation of vehicles, pavement care, and landscape maintenance in a challenging road environment.

CDL Class A is required within 90 days of hire and additional endorsements may be needed. Candidates must meet physical requirements and be prepared for 24/7 response in some locations.

Qualifications

• 6 months of roadway/highway related experience or as determined by area needs.
• 1 year of roadway/highway experience for Tech 1 classification.
• 2 years of roadway/highway experience for Tech 2.
• 3 years of roadway/highway experience for Tech 3.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles and equipment as learned.
• Perform pavement care and preservation, sign/striping tasks.
• Deliver equipment and materials, ensure environmental compliance.
• Oversee subordinates work and inspect job performance where applicable.
