Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) seeks Highway and Construction Laborer in Holbrook, AZ. Positions include entry to advanced levels with varying pay scales and a $4,000 hiring incentive. CDL and related requirements apply, with progression through Tech 1–Tech 3 roles.

Base salary ranges from $37,838 to $50,848 annually, plus eligibility for benefits and a comprehensive employment package. Closing date: 2026-09-28. Applicants must meet job-specific KSAs and pre-employment requirements.

Qualifications

• 6 months of Roadway/Highway job related experience as determined by the assigned area’s needs which may include operating motorized vehicles and heavy-duty equipment and maintenance, signing/striping of roadways, pavement care and preservation.
• 1 year of Roadway/Highway experience for Highway Operations Tech 1 as determined by the assigned area’s needs.
• 2 years of Roadway/Highway experience for Highway Operations Tech 2 as determined by the assigned area’s needs.
• 3 years of Roadway/Highway experience for Highway Operations Tech 3 as determined by the assigned area’s needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles and equipment, perform pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.
• Schedule, assign, and oversee subordinates' work, inspect work, train and guide staff in duties mentioned for the series.
• Learn and perform more advanced duties as Tech levels progress.
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance in highway operations.
