Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to support on-site highway construction projects in Montgomery, MD and Prince George’s County. The role emphasizes inspecting materials, ensuring compliance with specifications, and documenting quantities for pay estimates.

Ideal candidates have transportation construction experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to read plans and work safely in outdoor environments. A valid driver’s license and English fluency are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation construction including paving, surveying, traffic signals, flagger/traffic control, and road or bridge work.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Education/training in civil engineering or construction technology preferred.
• Industry certifications (MDOT SHA, MAARTCP, ACI) preferred.
• Must read/write/speak English fluently.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect materials used by contractors on highway construction on-site and document compliance with specifications
• Inspect various phases of contractor work to ensure proper highway construction
• Read and interpret construction plans for structures, bridges and roadways with understanding of construction specifications and references
• Perform tests for specification compliance
• Document pay quantities for monthly and final estimates
