Job summary

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) is seeking a dedicated staff member to guide students in CMSD sports programs and activities. This posting serves CTU (Local 279) members for the 2008-09 school year and requires CPR and PAV certifications with a pupil activity validation.

Responsibilities include supervising the activity, coordinating with the Athletics Department, and ensuring compliance with district policies. Coaching background is preferred.

Qualifications

The Cleveland Board of Education adopted the Building Brighter Futures (BBF) initiative on December 9, 2025. Building Brighter Futures is a strategic and data-driven plan shaped by more than a year of community engagement, information analysis, and thoughtful deliberation. THE OPPORTUNITY:

Provides guidance, support and direction for students participating in Cleveland Metropolitan School District sports programs or other approved student activities. This posting is available to qualified CTU (Local 279) members ONLY. Qualified CTU members are employees who will be working in a Local 279 position for the 2008-09 school year and possess a Pupil Activity Supervisory Permit on file with Employee Services.

Qualifications

• Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required
• The Ohio Department of Education mandates that any person receiving a supplemental contract to supervise, direct or coach a pupil activity must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and hold a pupil activity validation (PAV) certificate. All athletic directors have been provided with information relative to securing these certifications.
• Applicants may contact the athletic director at any District middle or senior high school or the Office of Interscholastic Athletics to obtain this information.
• Previous successful coaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport/activity and a willingness to seek out new techniques, aspects or procedures for the sport/activity preferred
