Job summary

Lakewood Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Class 2 Highly Qualified to directly assist students and staff with instructional activities, skill acquisition, and student support in and out of the classroom. The role supports teachers by following lesson plans and providing targeted help to students.

Requirements include completing at least two years of college or an associate degree or passing a state assessment.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or an associate degree or passing a state assessment.
• Ability to work with students individually or in small groups.
• Minimal supervision and reliable attendance.
• Ability to communicate professionally with students and staff.
• Must be able to handle confidential student information.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers according to lesson plans and routines set by the teacher/principal.
• Assist students individually or in small groups in academic areas.
• Help academically assess students as needed.
• Maintain records as directed by administration.
• Support teacher with instructional materials as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Develop positive relationships with students and staff.
• Attend professional development days as required.
