Job summary

The Colorado Attorney General's Office – Higher Education Unit – seeks an experienced attorney to join as Assistant Attorney General (Higher Education). You will represent Colorado’s public colleges and universities and related state agencies in litigation and general counsel matters, advising on policies, employment, student issues, and contracts.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience, is licensed to practice law in Colorado or eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar, and

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Colorado or eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar.
• At least five years of practicing attorney experience.
• Strong general counsel background and advisory capabilities to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Serve as general counsel to higher education institutions and related state agencies.
• Provide written and oral legal guidance on policies, employment matters, student concerns, contracts, and compliance.
• Handle litigation in state, federal, and administrative courts; coordinate transactional work as needed.
• Advise boards and senior leadership with practical, strategic legal solutions.
