Job summary

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
• At least one year of relevant legal experience in public or private sector (including judiciary, education, government, nonprofit, or law firm).
• Demonstrated knowledge of higher education law, government compliance, equal opportunity and nondiscrimination laws, and procurement contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services and support to college operations.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, analyses, and correspondence on a wide range of issues affecting the college.
• Review, draft, and prepare contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, and related documents.
• Provide guidance on student affairs, academic matters, labor and employment, procurement, compliance, grants, and records management.
• Assist in policy development and implementation to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Support compliance initiatives and trainings and assist with investigations and audits.
