Job summary

Phoenix VA Health Care System is seeking a Staff Pharmacist for its 650 E. Indian School Rd. and related outpatient locations in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on checking/verification for a high daily prescription volume in a busy facility that operates 24/7.

Qualified candidates hold a Pharm.D. or B.S. Pharmacy with ACPE accreditation and an unrestricted license; BLS is required. The assignment spans 1 year with potential renewal options, and applicants should be able to work varied shifts

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. or B.S. Pharmacy ACPE-accredited.
• Unrestricted pharmacist license (any U.S. state)
• Retail pharmacy experience required.
• BLS certification
• Able to stand for full shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Verify prescriptions filled by technicians for accuracy, dosage, and appropriateness.
• Handle a facility volume of ~1,000 prescriptions per day.
• Remain standing throughout the shift with breaks as scheduled.
• Work with other pharmacists to share checking workload; not the sole checker on duty.
