Job summary

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) seeks a Utility Electrician to inspect, repair, install, and test electrical systems across water, wastewater, power, and hydro facilities. Work includes voltages up to 60kV, transformer maintenance, and SCADA/DCS integration.

The role supports the Water Supply Treatment Division with a 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM schedule, permanent civil service prospects, and opportunities to advance through a competitive process.

Qualifications

• Five-year Inside Wireman Apprenticeship program completed.
• Two years journey-level electrician experience in high voltage (above 600 volts).
• Licensure: CA Class C driver license.
• Experience with high-voltage systems up to 60kV and industrial electrical equipment.
• Experience with UPS units and motor controls.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, maintains, repairs, installs, and tests electrical equipment up to 24,000 Volts at utility facilities.
• Maintains high voltage conductors and locate/repair faults.
• Tests and maintains circuit breakers, transformers, and substation equipment up to 300,000 Volts.
• Operates and maintains power generation and substation equipment, including PV systems.
