Job summary

Ascend Performance Materials is seeking a highly motivated technician to maintain and improve high voltage electrical and rectifier systems at our Tennessee site. The role supports daily plant operations, emphasizes safety, and requires close coordination with operations and reliability engineers.

Qualified candidates will have an associate degree in electrical/instrumentation or equivalent Work Keys credentials, HV experience, and familiarity with PLC, DCS, and protection relaying.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in electrical or instrumentation, or high school with Work Keys Locating Information and Applied Technology.
  • Electrical experience (15kV and below) in a chemical plant or industrial facility.
  • PLC and protection-relaying experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read/create electrical drawings and write switching procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot high voltage electrical and rectifier systems for daily reliability and safety.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing groups and support area needs; participate in safety culture.
  • Develop root cause analyses and drive reliability improvements with maintenance team.

Job description

POSITION OVERVIEWThis position requires a highly motivated individual with a strong focus on safety and customer service in the daily maintenance and reliability of the site electrical and rectifier systems. The individual must closely coordinate with operations and support the needs of the plant. Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and repair root causes of equipment failure are essential. The candidate is expected to continue developing personal and technical skills and apply that knowledge to improve operations.TARGETED OUTCOMESDevelop into key resource for daily high voltage and rectifier maintenance support of Chemicals and/or Utilities OperationsDrive reliability improvements through regular interaction with reliability technicians and engineersREPORTS TOMaintenance SupervisorKEY RESPONSIBILITIESHighly motivated, self-starter with a strong focus on customer service.Able to excel in a team atmosphere.Closely coordinate with manufacturing groups and support the needs of the area.Advanced problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.Active participant in the Decatur Site Safety Culture – HRP Coach preferredREQUIRED EXPERIENCECandidates must have an associate degree – preferably electrical or instrumentationOR a high school (or equivalent) education AND achieve a 4 or higher in the following Work Keys subjects: Locating Information, and Applied Technology.Electrical (15kV and below) and rectifier experience in a chemical plant or other industrial facilityPLC skills and experience with protection relaying a plus.REQUIRED SKILLSMust be able to read/create/markup electrical drawingsRequires experience maintaining and troubleshooting substation switchgear equipmentRequires experience in writing and executing electrical switching proceduresRequires knowledge of high voltage transformers, breakers, motor starters, and motorsRequires experience with 12 Pulse Rectifier SystemsRequires experience with control loops, interlocks, and distributive control systems (DCS)Understanding of preventive maintenance strategies for switchgear and rectifier systemsMust be willing to work call-ins, overtime and unscheduled hours as neededAbility to complete multiple tasks accurately and without constant supervisionMust have basic computer skills (MS Windows, MS Office, SAP)Knowledge of SEL protection and metering relays is a plus* You must be in your current role for one calendar year in order to qualify to transfer.At Ascend Performance Materials, we value transparency and fairness in our hiring process.
